Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center will be tobacco free on February 26, 2010
On November 19, 2009 Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center began their 100 day countdown to a tobacco-free campus.
At 12 Noon on the Annual Great American Smoke Out Day, November19th, Richard Margulis, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Brookhaven Hospital announced the Hospital's plans to become a tobacco-free campus. We have been working toward this day for a long time, and I am pleased to announce we are moving forward with our plans for a clean healthy environment for our patients as well as our staff. This is the most appropriate day of the year to announce this commitment, said Mr. Margulis.
Tobacco-free campuses protect and promote the health of staff, patients and visitors, decrease smoking-related employee costs, strengthen the image of the hospital as a healthcare leader, and is another way the Hospital is keeping its Promise to the community. Brookhaven Hospital will be a tobacco-free facility by Friday, February 26, 2010.
