Alcoholics Anonymous

Bariatric Surgery Support Group
Know that you are not alone. Meet with other patients who are currently undergoing or who have been through the process. Join our Support Group. Share your thoughts, tips, recipes, network and participate in events – even swap clothes! For more information, call 631-687-5400.

Parents/Grandparents Who Have Lost a Child (8 sessions)
Brookhaven's Hospice program offers a bereavement support group for parents and grandparents who have lost a child. The 8-week support group is open to all in the community, free of charge and is facilitated by a licensed Certified Social Worker.

Cardiac Education & Support Groups

Cardiac Outreach
Cardiac Outreach is an educational program and screening available for community groups, tailored to meet the group's needs. For further information, contact the cardiac outreach coordinator at 631-654-7240.

Healthy Hearts
Healthy Hearts is a free 6-session educational series offered two times a year for patients and families and is based upon American Heart Association guidelines for prevention of risk factors for heart disease. For more information, please call 631-654-7240

Self-Management Class
These three 2- to 3-hour weekly classes educate those diagnosed with diabetes on ways to help manage their disease. Topics include the following: Diabetes Overview, Nutrition, Activity, Blood Glucose Monitoring, Medications, Reducing Complications, Healthy Coping and Sick Days, and other miscellaneous topics. Each participant will have an individual pre-assessment consult as well as a group post alumni class with a registered nurse and a registered dietitian who are Certified Diabetes Educators. Diabetes Support Group
For those people with diabetes, this group offers education and support about the disease and its treatments. This is offered at no cost to the community. Family members are welcome. For more information or to be placed on the mailing list, call 631-687-4188.

Epilepsy and Seizure Support Group
For individuals with epilepsy and their families, this group is presented by South Shore Neurologic Associates, PC, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center and the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island. Topics include: safety with seizures, memory effects, relationships, stress, impact on job due to seizures, mood, emotional issues with seizures and other topics of interest to the group. Mental Health Family Education and Support Group

Parkinson's Disease Support Group

Renal Disease

Renal Care Givers Support Group
Education and support for family members and caregivers of individuals on dialysis provided by a licensed clinical social worker. A Pre-Renal Education Program
